In the middle of the center of Bonn where our restaurant "Elefant" is located, is the perfect place to have a cheerful start in the day. In our wide range of breakfast choices you can find something for every taste. So the Elefant in the morning is a real breakfast joint.
At noon the restaurant becomes an actual "Wishing-table". Our kitchen team stirs and sizzles every day with the most tasty ingredients and conjures amazing dishes on the plate.
Cheers! Besides the good food we love especially the conviviality. To philosophize with nice people or just talking gibberish, it always works here on its own. It doesn't matter if talking while having a nice cold beer or a glas of tasty wine, in the evening the spirits in the Elefant are getting high.
The latest discovery of the German cuisine inspires us. Everywhere you can feel a returning to the homemade classics. The old recipies loose their dust and get a new modern interpretation. Fresh, light and tasty dishes are getting developed which do not have to hide infront of other cuisines worldwide.
Germany is also home of many different cultures. Also our chefs come from places all over the world. This culinaric melting pot reveales itself in our every season changing menu. Our favourite dishes from all over the world also find their place here.
This is how home tastes like today!
Now almost 400 years ago was the first certified mentioning of "the Elefant" right here in the heart of Bonn. Although initially just an ordinary tavern of sorts, serving mostly pilgrims and farmers of the surrounding regions, it was built to last.
Over the upcoming centuries it would increasingly become a beloved meeting point for the good people of Bonn. The central location, in correspondence with the hard work and effort of its hosts, made it a highly popular inn with a good name and reputation all over town.
Up to the beginning of the 20th century it was known as Bonn´s oldest wine tavern. It was just then, when it changed to serving predominantly beer.
During the long course of its history the name of the inn changed several times. The "Elefant" became the "Black Raven" ("Schwarzer Rabe"), afterwards the "Crooked Corner" ("Schiefes Eck") and later on "The Squashed" ("Der Gequetschte").
Now, after extensive renovations of the old building structure, the new and improved "Elefant" is delighted to continue the long tradition of warm and welcoming hospitality for the good citizens of Bonn, farmers, pilgrims and all its visitors to come.
As a cheerful team our goal is to offer our guests a great time staying with us. With passion and cordiality we bring the Elefant to life every day - good service is here a matter of honor. We are a local Rhenish restaurant tradition but beeing fresh.
Also our suppliers are part of the team. We mostly know them in person and love their great products. In the Elefant you won't find the cheapest steak or the biggest schnitzel in town. Instead you will get very tasty and healthy food!
